The stealth-action game was released for PlayStation 4 and PC back in August, but had been delayed due to development “roadblocks”.
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game are ready to release on January 12th 2016 while the internal team that make up Stoic are now focusing on Banner Saga 2.
Until Sony stepped in, that is.
Sony confirms Banner Saga’s port to PS Vita, after the gaming and tech giant has lent its financial support to Austin-based indie game producer Stoic Entertainment. The sequel will release next year although it doesn’t have a specific release date yet.
Now things are suddenly looking up for the Vita version.
Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that “Banner Saga” had issues of bringing the game to the consoles.
Sony has not completely given up on the PlayStation Vita from a first party perspective it seem, as Gio Corsi on twitter revealed that Sony has stepped to the plate to ensure completion of the Vita port of The Banner Saga. Corsi has, of late, made a big impression at Sony’s PlayStation Experience keynotes – generally announcing fan-favorite third-party games for PlayStation platforms, and helping keep hope alive for Sony’s handheld console with Western and independent developed games.
That announcement offered nothing on the PS Vita front, a platform the game was announced for alongside the PS4 version. With Sony funding Stoic’s project, the indie game company can now concentrate on delivering the second part of the game, which, according to them, will answer far more questions regarding Banner Saga’s lore.
