Volvo V90 Polestar Pokes At 600hp Ford GT, Acura NSX

Unfortunately, neither Volvo nor Polestar has offered the updated power figures for the XC90 with Polestar Power Package. He said that both the S90 and the V90 will have its Polestar versions which may have the capacity to reach up to 600 horsepower. “The S90 and V90 already offer excellent driving dynamics and we are delighted to raise the performance level even further with Polestar Performance Optimisation”, said Niels Möller, COO of Polestar, the Volvo Cars performance brand. Currently, the electric motor in the T8 plug-in hybrid models puts out 87 hp, so it would have to be upgraded. Volvo says throttle-lift vehicle stability is also improved.

The Polestar Performance Optimization package for the S90 and V90 will be available in markets across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

That means the S90 large sedan (below) and V90 large wagon will be sporting (apologies for the pun) Polestar’s trademark blue square on their rumps in the near future, and receive significant performance upgrades under the bonnet.

The package was developed in close cooperation with the engineers and racing drivers of Polestar Cyan Racing.

The twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel D5 will be the first drivetrain to benefit from the optimisation program, followed by the turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder petrol T6.
