Week 10 preview: Big Ten battle; Fournette, LSU face Alabama

November 06 01:04 2016

In one month, Ed Orgeron has become a Cajun sensation. Saban is a small, detail-obsessed dictator with a sour disposition. The shutout was 19th for Alabama since Nick Saban’s arrival. He’s 3-0 as Louisiana State’s interim coach. Brennan leads the Rock-a-Chaws on Friday night against Greene County in the first round of the Mississippi Class 4A state playoffs. As impressive as he has been in his first college season, it will be awfully interesting to see how he fares against LSU’s man-to-man coverage if the Tigers slow down the running game and force Hurts to be the difference-maker as a passer.

– “I can’t say enough about how many critical stops that we had in this game”.

“He’s just a genetic freak and certainly great to have him on your team”, Jeter said. One game after touchdown runs of 78, 76 and 59 yards against Ole Miss, Fournette’s longest run against the Crimson Tide was 9 yards. In May, when South Point sports book director Chris Andrews opened the line, LSU was a 3-point favorite.

Aranda has demonstrated a phenomenal ability to make in-game adjustments, as evidenced by LSU’s second-half dominance throughout much of the season. Of course, Alabama got its revenge in the national championship later in the year, dominating the Tigers 21-0.

Former LSU coach Les Miles put his home up for sale last week.

Kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Tigers is set for 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

That drive was a vintage Alabama moment under Saban.

HURTS ON ROAD: Tide freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts has had some mistakes in previous road games but bounced back strong. We have a great game plan for Leonard. Here’s another: LSU has lost five straight to Alabama. “Alabama can be beat”. The last five games have been won by Alabama, but the last four contests in Baton Rouge have been decided by seven points or less and have come down to the final minutes each time. The Tide’s winning streak is at 20 games.

Two weeks ago, thanks to a record-setting 284 rushing yards from junior tailback Leonard Fournette, the Tigers rolled up 311 total rushing yards in a 38-21 win over Ole Miss, just LSU’s second game with more than 250 yards on the ground this season – both of which have come under Orgeron, though Missouri and Ole Miss are No. 14 and No. 13 in the SEC in total defense. Alabama is more capable of moving the chains via the pass than the Tigers, which keeps the LSU front seven on their heels. The Tigers usually do, but being a one-dimensional team against the best defense in college football, is a recipe for disaster.

“I like the way LSU is playing”. Operating in an offense that seems to fit the dual-threat quarterback to a tee, he’s developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. “The number is getting a little high”.

“Their offense has definitely taken strides since Coach O has taken over”, Hamilton said.

“Orgeron has done something”.

“In the first couple of days we had some smaller, sharper bets take the Under, and over the last 48 hours the public has followed the steam”, Cooley said. You have your next head coach in Orgeron.

“He’s probably the most motivated guy on the team, to be honest with you”, Orgeron said Wednesday morning on the SEC teleconference. “In the short term, it’s a Red Bull rush, but it’s real”. Ohio State wound up with the No. 4 seed in the Sugar Bowl in the first CFP semifinals in 2014 after starting way down in 16th place in the season’s initial CFP rankings.
