“Prime Minister Trudeau was extremely appreciative, and he was also cautious to draw conclusions on the motives at this stage of the investigation, and the president shared those thoughts”, Spicer said. “But they’re not the only game in town anymore”.
“Do reporters have to promise to pander to get Skype access to the White House press briefings”, LGBT Think Progress editor Zack Ford complained.
We – and I think that one of the things that this president in particular is – through the various social media accounts is somewhere in the 50 million plus now, where he can reach individuals and take a message directly to them. The media is obligated to correctly report facts, Mr. Spicer said, but many stories are riddled with “unbelievable errors” and a negative slant. Last week, Spicer was unable to say whether Trump would keep in place President Obama’s 2014 executive order barring anti-LGBT employment discrimination among federal contractors.
The dramatic events promoted assurances from leading Washington Republicans including former presidential candidate John McCain and House Speaker Paul Ryan.
News White House correspondent Kristen Welker told Spicer that a Monday tweet from Trump referred to the order as a ban.
“Sometimes we can disagree with the facts”, he said.
“I’ll tell you the whole history of it: When he first announced it, he said ‘Muslim ban, ‘” Giuliani said on Fox News.
The panelists were shown on a pair of televisions located behind and on either side of Spicer and were only on screen while asking a question. The president’s order is meant to protect the homeland and he has the constitutional authority and responsibility to protect the American people. When a reporter pointed out that Trump himself had used the word “ban” to describe his order, Spicer claimed the president was simply “using the words that the media is using”. The Obama administration said it was legal to target and kill a USA citizen if the person represented an active threat to the US homeland. We’ve always been a welcoming country.
We may never know with certainty.
SESNO: He’s talking about how carnage on American streets. “But if you don’t have the information about what is actually happening in policy statements, it makes our jobs harder”.
On Tuesday, a reporter asked Spicer about the more than 1,100 people who received waivers, ostensibly making them among those affected by the order.
His “likes” on Facebook included the leader of France’s far right party Marine Le Pen, Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, the Israeli Defense Forces, and Donald J. Trump.
Journalists will have to seek out multiple additional sources when covering the president.
“I’m not calling him a liar”, Thrush responded. “You are fake news”. That’s where you live as a communications director and the press secretary. Being too hard on the Trump administration will only alienate conservatives further.
