The first acting award of the night went to Sweden’s Alicia Vikander, who dazzled on the red carpet in a strapless pale yellow Louis Vuitton gown, for her supporting role in “The Danish Girl”.
George Miller’s dystopian action thriller “Mad Max: Fury Road” came out victorious in six major technical categories at the 88th Academy Awards with wins in best editing, production design, sound editing and costume categories.
And Adam McKay and Charles Randolph took the adapted screenplay Oscar for “The Big Short“-another best picture contender”.
For India, while Marathi film “Court”, the country’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film, did not make it to the final nomination list this year, there were proud moments for the country in abundance. Lesley Vanderwalt, Elka Wardega and Damian Martin won the Oscar for Best Hair and Makeup Styling for the film. Brie Larson won the best actress award for her portrayal of a mother struggling to raise her son in captivity in the film, “Room“. It is on Netflix now, and it is more emotionally complex and simply better than 90 percent of the feature films made in 2015.

It didn’t help his case that Shia LaBeouf described his style thusly: “Mike films women in a way that appeals to a 16-year-old sexuality”.
“I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen and he said that no openly gay man had ever won an oscar“, Smith said.
“I feel blessed to be able to do movies like this”, he said.
Fury Road dazzled audiences worldwide with its barrage of arresting sound and visual effects.
Priyanka gave away the award to film editor Margaret Sixel at the annual award ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
