Update Advisor can help check if an update is available for your phone and free up space to get you started. Before you panic, however, we should be clear that it isn’t ending support for Windows 8.1, which is supported through January 10, 2023.
Microsoft quietly announced today that it’s making it easier for small businesses to upgrade to Windows 10, by making the “Get Windows 10” app that prompts users to upgrade more widely available. Microsoft has now removed the “no” completely. 200 million users are already using the new OS, and the eventual goal is for that number to reach 1 billion in two to three years times, reports the Verge. Windows Central noted that, in the past, in order to opt out of the Windows 10 Insider program, the users had to hard-reset, and this update allows the users to select a stable production build, but which is less advanced. Microsoft will no longer release security updates for these browsers (unless you’re using IE 9 on Vista), which means they’ll have increasingly fewer defenses against hackers.
The report added that some consumers hope that other carriers will follow suit and other units will be powered by Windows 10 as well. There are telltale signs that it is going to come pretty soon and the latest Windows Insider app update on Windows 10 Mobile seems to be giving similar indication to Windows Mobile fans.
We’re also assured: “The Get Windows 10 app will not be introduced to PCs in large corporations who run Enterprise edition or who prefer to manage their own updates with onsite tools (including WSUS or System Centre Configuration Manager)”.
Earlier this week, Ed Bott of ZDNet published some helpful instructions for a relatively simple series of registry edits that will block the upgrade from your computer. Windows 8, which launched in October 2012, has been roughly in line with Windows 10 traffic numbers.
“The Flipkart app for Windows 10 has been created to offer a seamless and consistent experience across various form factors”.
While upgrading is the right thing to do for most users, not everyone wants to be continually pestered or even has any intention of upgrading.
