Windows 10 Starts Forcibly Installing Itself On Older PCs

February 02 20:00 2016

It has been observed that Windows 8.1 users are switching to Windows 10 at a more rapid rate, which might be in part due to more compatible hardware in comparison with Windows 7 systems.

Even if you do opt to upgrade to Windows 10, and then find yourself regretting it later, Microsoft offers a way out.

Microsoft will also be delighted to know that Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users for whom Windows 10 is a free upgrade – are finding the new operating system interesting.

By default, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 shipped with updates enabled and a second box – “Give me Recommended updates the same way I receive important updates” checked as well. So if you’ve got automatic updates set up on your computer, expect to download and install a few gigabytes of code for the move to Windows 10.

Microsoft has made Windows 10 a “recommended update“, for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users, the company confirmed today. Windows 7 still has the most number of users. The company has been one of the smartest units in the markets and has been coming out with many landmark devices which have changed the way the users use technology.

With Windows 10 out for the public to try and scrutinize, a lot of consumers have commented that they prefer their previous operating system better as the new OS seems to be much more complicated.

In October past year Microsoft already announced it would make Windows 10 a “recommended update” at the beginning of 2016. This means that if you haven’t upgraded yet, you’re going to go ahead and start the process. Microsoft strongly recommends allowing automatic updates.

Windows 10 appears to finally be getting some traction with users, increasing its share from just 9.96 percent of the market in December.

This is according to the latest figures from Net Applications, which previously had Windows 10 in third position behind XP. To prevent Microsoft downloading and installing Windows 10 on your computer, you need to turn off the Recommended Updates setting in Windows Update and hide Windows 10 from the list of available recommended updates.
