“Heavy snow and ice accumulations will make travel hard”, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday Night: Accumulating snow and a wintry mix spreads across portions of Upstate New York and northern New England Tuesday night, including Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. A Winter Weather Advisory takes over the rest of the Stateline, beginning at 6PM Monday and lasting through 9AM Tuesday.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the far northern IL and southern Wisconsin counties, including Rockford, Freeport, Belvidere, Monroe & Beloit. Driving conditions for the Tuesday morning commute look to be slow and hazardous with snow-covered roads and blowing snow from strong northeast winds.

Tonight, gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour in the evening, will diminish overnight. The remainder of the week calls for flurries, and daytime high’s in the upper 20’s. Precipitation is expected to change to all snow by early Tuesday afternoon.

Most of the snow is due to fall from midnight to 8 a.m. Tuesday, the agency says. We will likely be dry for much of this evening with the snow moving in mostly after midnight.

The total snowfall is expected to be 3 to 5 inches.
