Protestors took to the streets en masse across the United States Saturday, hoisting anti-Donald Trump placards, banging drums and donning pink hats for a second Women’s March opposing the president – one year to the day of his inauguration.
From Poland to NY to Washington D.C.to Los Angeles, the protests were unforgettable and showcased the power of women of all generations. Bennett defeated Republican incumbent John Carman, who had mocked the 2017 women’s march in Washington with a Facebook post asking whether the women would be home in time to cook dinner.

“People participating in marches in the USA and around the world Saturday are walking in support of female empowerment and are denouncing President Donald Trump’s views on immigration, abortion, LGBT and women’s rights and more”. Despite his apparent well wishes to demonstrators, the Republican and his administration were the primary target of many marchers.
Numerous protesters wore pink knit “pussy hats”, which were created for last year’s march as a reference to a comment made by Mr Trump about female genitalia.
Her mother, 44-year-old Karen Tardivo, said she wanted to expose her daughter to the importance of women’s rights, especially during the “Me Too” movement surrounding sexual harassment. I don’t like what’s happened to our country in the previous year, at all.
Many women at that march indicated their opposition to the current president, Kandi Burruss who has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 19 women. Many carried signs that advocated for women’s rights or rallied against the president.
Several white women said they want to be stronger allies who will lift the voices and experiences of women of color.
Thousands of people gathered in Cleveland; Richmond, Virginia; Philadelphia; New York; Austin, Texas; and elsewhere.
The national march, which attracted hundreds of thousands to Washington, D.C., last year, will be held Sunday in Las Vegas.
“This is our moment to stand tall, to fight back and be heard”, the senator added.
The women have returned to the streets. At Saturday’s events, women staffed a table and encouraged those in attendance to register to vote.
“We have seen tremendous aggression and discrimination against women over this past year”, Cuomo said. “We have to use our political power, which is the most effective way to resist”.
Douglas Stocks, 59, from Santa Clara, a bookseller at Books Inc.in that city, had joined a female co-worker and her sisters in the San Jose march. Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi urge women to run for office and vote. “I know that we have a long slog ahead of us to undo the damage that this man has inflicted”.
“I’m sick to my stomach every day, and I find myself working on not being angry, because there’s only so much we can do”.
Marchers carrying signs pack the platform at the Maplewood train station early Saturday morning as they head to the Women’s Marches in Morristown and New York City. “And I just believe 100% we need to do better for women”, said Dan Griffin, 45, a consultant from Culver City who attended with both his wife and daughter.
Jade Byard Peek, a transgender woman of African-Nova Scotian and Mi’kmaq heritage, said she and others felt uncomfortable and under attack at last year’s event.
Protesters also gathered in other parts of the globe. The atmosphere was festive, with people chanting, “This us what democracy looks like!”
“There is a belief that we have equity, equality and that everything is all dandy, but even here in Halifax, that doesn’t exist”, Byard Peek told the crowd at the offshoot march, dubbed an intersectional women’s event.
“Women are scared to speak, and because I was vilified by everything I said, I was called a prostitute for being raped”, she said at the rally. Some found them less inclusive because not everyone has female genitalia.
