Google has just announced to scrap off the most annoying feature of YouTube – the unskippable 30-second ads.
Advertisements that are shorter than 30 seconds, including 20-second spots can now be made unskippable. When you click the video to watch such adds give you mood swings but also you have to watch it for 30 seconds at least to skip them and switch to videos.
According to a new report by Campaign, Google has confirmed that it’s going to phase out the 30-second unskippable preroll ads on YouTube starting 2018. The search engine giant has explained in the recent statement. You can minimize the video you’re watching to a picture-in-picture view that keeps playing in the corner of your screen while you browse other stories in News Feed. Big G’s video sharing site launched bumper ads nearly a year ago, and there is no indication the service will get rid of its 15 or 20-second adverts that do not skip. Well, YouTube has finally made a decision to remove those unskippable 30-seconds ads plaguing the platform.
All of this seems to be the tip of the iceberg for Google, who usually make these smaller changes in advance of bigger changes to come.
Listening to music on YouTube should be a lot more painless in future.
Billions of YouTube videos are watched on a daily basis which equates to a ton of ad revenue for content creators and YouTube.
Now that there are other instant messaging services gaining popularity YouTube is taking all measures to provide the best video viewing experience.
Shorter ads seem to improve product recall, especially when combined with TrueView or Google Preferred campaigns.
Long unskippable adverts are seen as a nuisance by many viewers, and Google has introduced shorter formats.
