Target tries its own version of Prime Day

July 16 16:07 2018

For the rest of today and tomorrow Amazon is offering discounts on a bunch of things that you may or may not have an interest in. Amazon’s Prime Day starts July 16 and will be six hours longer than last year’s. Deals go live at 3 p.m. ET and run through midnight on Tuesday. The deals are for a limited time though, with shoppers only allowed to buy the product while stocks last. You also get SonyLIV, Hungama, Spuul and YuppTV complimentary subscription for 3 months. The buyers are also provided with exchange offers of Rs 12,000 and Rs 8,001 on Moto G6 and Honor 7C respectively. Be sure to have your notifications turned to “on” in the settings section of the app, however, if you want to receive notifications. Top products are broken down by category, including home, outdoors, tech and Amazon devices. They pay an annual fee that Amazon recently hiked 20 percent to $119. With over 100 million members already subscribed to the service globally, it expects this number to bolster over the course of the Prime Day sale.

Alexa – Amazon’s voice-powered virtual assistant – will make it easy to find the best Prime Day deals.

Shoppers will also be able search for a specific product to see if it has a Prime Day badge – which means it is discounted for the shopping event.

“Step Aside Black Friday – Meet Prime Day”, Amazon said in a news statement unveiling the event.

Talking about the discounts to be offered on the smartphones, the Google Pixel 2 will be priced at Rs. 42,999 instead of MRP Rs. 70,000.

Amazon again will again offer deals on Alexa-enabled devices such as Echo, Echo Show, Fire TV and Fire tablets this year.

Whether that’s Amazon matching the Echo Dot’s lowest price ever, or a relatively-new 4K HDR TV for $110 less than we’ve ever seen it, you can buy these items with confidence that they’ve never been sold at lower prices.

Amazon also encourages sellers to boost advertising on Prime Day, and one seller told CNBC that the marketplace is trying to figure out “how to double dip into our pockets”.

You can sign up for an Amazon Prime membership here. You can also stream music from Gaana and Prime Music.

Amazon’s sale is aimed at its Prime members.

WHOLE FOODS IN THE MIX: The Seattle-based company is offering Prime members who spend $10 at Whole Foods from July 11-17 a $10 Amazon credit to use on Prime Day. However, you can cancel before that month ends to avoid being charged anything.

From their site: “To share Prime benefits and digital content between adults, both adults must link their accounts through Amazon Household and agree to share payment methods”. During the Flipkart Big Shopping Days sale, SBI is offering 10 percent instant discount on purchases made with the SBI credit card.
